Going to Rio | Eoin Coughlan

A huge win in the Oceania Championships has launched Traralgon judoka Eoin Coughlan into his first ever Olympics. The quiet 24-year old who loves an arvo of fishing will be facing off against the world’s best in Rio.

For Eoin, Judo is all in the family. His parents met through the sport and his two sisters are both judo stars themselves. Eoin is going to have quite the fan club watching him in Rio, with his Irish grandma making her first ever journey to South America to watch him fight for a gold medal.

Eoin also has another secret weapon in his corner, Aussie UFC star and four time Olympian – Daniel Kelly. Dan who is in charge of the entire Aussie judo team thinks Eoin is going to be tough to stop in Rio. “He’s very physical. He’s fit. And he’s fast.”
