At just 19 years of age, Jakara Anthony is one of the must-watch Aussie stars heading to Pyeongchang. Despite growing up in surf territory (Barwon Heads), Anthony has managed to become one of Mogul skiing’s hottest prospects. Her improvement has been phenomenal, placing 5th at this year’s Deer Valley World Cup.
Getting to where she is though has been far from easy. There have been plenty of early morning training sessions, lots of travelling, as well as the added pressure of balancing studies with training commitments. Then there’s the friendly leeches and turtles that lurk in the murky (and often freezing) waters of the Lilydale ski jump facility.
Jakara Anthony and her teammates will head to Pyeongchang with plenty of confidence knowing they have put in the hard yards to bring home some illusive Winter Olympic medals for Australia.
