My Life As… A Wallaby – Scott Sio

For Wallaby Scott Sio, Rugby runs through the veins. Even his first name is shrouded in Rugby history.

Like father like son

Scott’s father Tevita ‘David’ Sio was a prop for Samoa who proved to be a giant killing team at the 1991 Rugby World Cup.

Samoa shocked the Rugby world going all the way to the quarter finals where they eventually lost to Scotland. It is at this time that David Sio had a son who he named after his team’s quarter final rival, Scotland.

Scott was able to emulate his dad by making his own World Cup history as part of the Wallabies’ 2015 tilt at the trophy. Despite a brutal elbow injury, Scott Sio returned for the Wallabies who fell just short to the All Blacks in the final.

This year, Scott Sio and his teammates are determined to get the edge against their arch enemy the All Blacks.
