My Life As… A Premiership Cup Maker

The AFL Premiership Cup is widely regarded as the Holy Grail to footy fans.

It is a simple, sleek and timeless design that has remained consistent during a period when the VFL, now AFL, has undergone drastic growth and numerous changes.

The First VFL/AFL Premiership Cup

The first ever Premiership Cup was presented to legendary Demons captain Ron Barassi after their Grand Final win way back in 1959. Prior to then, teams had been awarded flags. Which is where the widely heard footy phrase “won the flag” comes from.

Since Barassi first held the Premiership Cup aloft, it has been the team at Cash’s Awards and Promotions Solutions in Frankston that have worked tirelessly to put the iconic trophy together.

The People Behind the Cup

The man who is in charge of making the perfect Cup is Vincent Formosa. The passion Vin and his team put into their work, creating the perfect AFL Premiership Cup, is phenomenal.

“Every Premiership Cup is unique. They are all hand-made and you cannot duplicate something that is hand made.”
