Life and career
Celeste Mucci has been competing in athletics since the age of 9. She currently attends Maribyrnong College in year 12.
In 2015 Mucci made her first Australian Team, qualifying for the World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia. Unfortunately she suffered a stress fracture in the lower back and had to withdraw from the team.
After a 5 month rehab period, Celeste Mucci was back in full training and was able to qualify for the World U20 Championships in Poland in both the 100M Hurdles and Heptathlon. As these events clashed she chose to focus on the Heptathlon and finished 17th in the world.
In 2017 Celeste Mucci won her 5th straight Australian Championships Hurdles gold medal. Winning the U20 100M Hurdles in 13.58. She also passed 5600pts in the Heptathlon, scoring 5628pts at the Victorian Championships.
In April Mucci competed in the IAAF Firenze Multi-stars event and achieved a PB of 5721pts.
This season the Victorian was focussed on qualifying for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and World U20 Championships, which she did.
At the 2017 NSW Heptathlon Championships Celeste Mucci broke the 27-year-old Australian U20 Heptathlon record with a new PB of 5870pts to place her 11th on the Australian All Time list.
On Feb 16th 2018 she also won the National Heptathlon Championship which is an automatic qualification for the Australian Commonwealth Games Team.
