The Arnold Classic
The Arnolds Sports Festival was launched in 1989 and named in honour of one of the world’s most successful bodybuilders of all time Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The festival has experienced huge success and expanded to include an Australian event in 2015.
Katie Jean destined for a career in fitness
One Aussie vying for success at this year’s Arnold Classic Australia was Melbourne fitness model Katie Jean.
Whilst Katie idolised Arnold as a youngster, it was actually her mum Sue that was her biggest fitness inspiration.
“Mum loved doing gym classes but she enjoyed doing weights as well. When I was thirteen I used to follow her along and jump in the weights room too.”
Katie was reluctant to compete in fitness competitions, but when a colleague told her she couldn’t do it because she was too shy, Katie was determined to prove them wrong.
My Life As… A Fitness Model
Through years of hard work Katie Jean has since forged a career in the highly competitive fitness arena. Katie’s dedication and commitment to her craft has seen her become one of the stand out competitors in the IFBB bikini championships.
One of Katie’s biggest challenges came when she took on some of the toughest competitors from around the world at the Arnold Classic Australia in front of her home crowd in Melbourne.
We hit the gym with Katie Jean and her trainer Scott Goble to find out what it takes to make it on the big stage, in this episode of My Life As.
