It’s been a big week for Aussie spin king Shane Warne.
Big week for Shane Warne
First there was talk a Melbourne train station could be named in his honour, then he was falsely named by a tabloid website as the next Channel 10 Bachelor.
On this occasion though he is going back to what he does best- sledging poms.
Shane Warne has ripped into former rival Paul Collingwood on Instagram with a brutal sledge.
Shane Warne’s sledge
It all started when Stuart Broad posted on Instagram about “coach” Paul Collingwood.
Shane Warne an old rival of Collingwood’s couldn’t help himself responding with this sneaky zinger.
“What is Colly doing as a coach ? Carrying the bags ? Hahahaha #MBE for 0 & 7.”
MBE honours for Collingwood
Warne’s MBE remark was making reference to the fact Collingwood (like all his English Ashes teammates) was awarded by the Queen with the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire after defeating Australia 2-1 in the Ashes.
It was a drought breaking series win for England and the Queen was clearly impressed.
Apparently Warnie didn’t share the same views and has sledged Collingwood about receiving the honour on numerous occasions since.
He hasn’t quite got this latest sledge right as Collingwood made 7 and 10 (not 7 and 0 as Warne had suggested) but it’s the thought that counts.
The public were quick to hit back at Warne making reference to his controversial charity, drug ban, and bookmaker controversy in comments below his own.
Warne’s banter certainly adds some extra spice to the Ashes buildup ahead of the first test in Brisbane on November 23.
