Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield hits back at former Port player Kane Cornes who accused him of “exaggerating injuries.”
Patrick Dangerfield had hobbled off the field after appearing to suffer from a serious injury in the first quarter of Geelong’s clash with Hawthorn.
Dangerfield returned to the field where he dominated at full-forward booting five goals.
‘Danger’ was widely lauded for his heroics returning to the field to lead his side to victory but Cornes wasn’t buying it.
“He does exaggerate injuries. In his time at Adelaide, his teammates had to sit him down and say, look, you do carry on a little bit with your injuries”, Cornes said after the game.
Patrick Dangerfield hits back
Dangerfield took to FM radio this morning to hit back at Cornes.
“I just laugh at Kane Cornes — that’s all you can do I think,” Dangerfield told KIIS 101.1.
“It’s great we’ve got someone from the Crows’ inner sanctum. No one was as welcome as Kane Cornes in the Adelaide change rooms.
“I don’t think I need to reference his career at times. I’ll leave it at that.
“Surprisingly I never had that conversation. Maybe Kane should do a little bit more research next time.”
Dangerfield concluded by saying he got a great night’s sleep despite the Cornes comments.
“I didn’t lose any sleep over it.”
Cornes wants attention
Dangerfield is correct in that Kane Cornes sometimes appears to try a little too hard to make a headline.
He has already rubbed up several current AFL figures the wrong way including Crows skipper Tex Walker and Richmond coach Damien Hardwick.
Hardwick who is a former teammate of Cornes last week accused him of writing “sh** comments.”
