James Hird the Norm Smith medalist
Hird who won the prestigious award after his best on ground performance in the 2000 Grand Final is next in line to present the award.
“He’s next in the roster and we’ve written to him, but we’re yet to hear anything back,” an AFL spokesman told AAP.
The Herald Sun confirms
The Herald Sun is reporting that Hird is happy to present the medal after this year’s Grand Final.
“If they (have asked me), I would love to do it,” Hird told the Herald Sun from Europe.
“It would just be good to be out there on Grand Final day. It’s obviously the best day in the footy calendar, so it would be a nice experience.”

James Hird is next in line to present the award as Shannon Grant the 1999 Norm Smith medallist presented last year’s medal to Jason Johannisen.
