UFC legend Georges St-Pierre aka GSP has hit back after talks ticket sales for his comeback had been slower than expected.
Joe Rogan says ticket sales are slow
Veteran UFC analyst Joe Rogan yesterday hinted that the superstar from Montreal may not be as popular as he once was. He told listeners of his Fight Companion podcast that “Bisping vs GSP- I’m hearing that that’s not selling well.”
“Here’s the thing, though. If you really stop and think about it, that was four years ago since (St-Pierre) last fought Jonny Hendricks. The people that are into the UFC now, they’re post-Ronda Rousey post-Conor McGregor, the casual fans.”
GSP responded to Rogan’s comments at a pre-fight media event this morning by saying that he wasn’t interested in popularity.
“I do not focus on that. I don’t even care.”
“I do not care.”
“I’d rather make zero dollars and win my fight than make ten million and lose it.”
I reckon that the ten million comment could be a sneaky jibe at Conor McGregor who recently raked in the cash despite losing his boxing bout to Floyd Mayweather.
“This is my fight and this is my world, I swear it’s true. Even when I was four (years old). I want to win. I don’t care about this (popularity and money)“, GSP added.
“They are going to know me after (the fight).”
Despite the ticket sales talk, I’m expecting UFC 217 to be an absolute cracker. It will be great to see GSP back in the Octagon.
