Today I decided to introduce you to the Coffey family. More specifically to the two Insta-famous members of the clan, surfing sisters Holly-Daze and Ellie-Jean Coffey. Recently dubbed the Australian Kardashians.
Holly-Daze & Ellie-Jean Coffey
The two sisters are professional surfers sponsored by Billabong as well as professional models signed with the IMG agency.
But the Aussie beauties’ fast-growing fame is mainly coming from their very popular Instagram accounts. Combined they have more than 1.2 million followers.
With over 1000 bikini pics similar to these, it’s no surprise the surfing sisters are a huge Insta-success.
Holly-Daze and Ellie-Jean, who are huge fans of Kim Kardashian, aren’t surprised or offended by the comparison to the reality TV star family.
Speaking to Sunrise, Ellie-Jean said:
“We obviously can see why we’re compared because of the whole family unit. But, obviously we’re talented — and not fabulously wealthy.”
Just like the Kardashians, the sisters are part of a big tight-knit family. Based on the Gold Coast, the family of 7 surfers is often in the local line-ups and known to charge harder than anyone else in the water.
Over ten years ago the girls’ mother Kym suffered a broken neck. Then their father Jason had an epiphany — he sold the family home on Sydney’s Curl Curl beach to fund their new life on the road while homeschooling all of the Coffey siblings along the way. They lived in a caravan before settling on the Gold Coast six years ago.
The Coffey patriarch is also very comfortable with the Australian Kardashians nickname:
“Say what you like about the Kardashians, they may not be very talented but at the end of the day they’re a big strong family unit. We’re more like the Kardashians in that sense than anything else.”
The Coffey girls hope to qualify for a surfing pro tour in the near future. Which would allow them to travel the world competing and take many selfies along the way.
According to their publicist Holly-Daze and Ellie-Jean, aka the Australian Kardashians, are in the final stages of confirming their own reality TV series deal with a US network. I for one can’t wait to see it express from the US!
