Well the first week of finals is done and, before we know it, the AFL Grand Final will be upon us.
While the match itself will always be the main attraction on the day, there is also plenty of interest in what musical entertainment will be showcased during the most important day on the AFL calendar.
Last year the rumour mill was in circulation months before the Grand Final on which artists would be present. And one of the early predictions of The Killers proved to be correct.
A hard act to follow
The performance from The Killers last year is considered to be one of the best acts in recent years at the AFL Grand Final. And also included a Midnight Oil cover in the repertoire.
The Las Vegas outfit also took to the stage to perform after the match as the headline for the Virgin Premiership Party. And of course who can forget the cameo from Jack Riewoldt during Mr Brightside.
It will always be difficult to cater to all musical tastes. But The Killers certainly had plenty of fans in attendance. And no doubt would have won over a few more by the end of the day.
Who is in the mix?
Earlier in the year it was Bon Jovi touted as the artist the AFL was chasing. The Herald Sun reported there was also interest in Taylor Swift but neither have come to fruition.
Various media in the last week have all but confirmed that it will be Jimmy Barnes and the Black Eyed Peas who will get the nod for the 2018 entertainment. Will these acts be given the tick of approval by the general public?
An official announcement will not be too far away. Maybe the safest bet is just bring back Angry Anderson and the Batmobile.
